Volunteer Opportunities

There are numerous opportunities for individuals or groups to volunteer for Ronald McDonald House and Family Room of Wichita. Call Becky at 269-4182 if you are interested in being a volunteer.

Baker: Provide baked items such as meals, cookies or cookie dough, cakes, pies or desserts. Items may be prepared at home and delivered to the Ronald McDonald Houses and Family Room.

Chore Relief: Provide weekly light cleaning for the families using the House. Usually one hour a week.

Decorating: Decorating (includes putting up and putting away decorations) the Ronald McDonald Houses and the Family Room during the holiday seasons. Easter. . . 4th of July . . . Halloween . . . Thanksgiving . . . Christmas.

Gardener: Provide seasonal planting and maintenance as needed during the growing season for either Ronald McDonald House location.

McHelper House: Work one weekday shift per week at one of the Ronald McDonald Houses assisting the Manager with families, answering the phone, doors, family questions, and check families in and out. Must be 18 or older, flexible, willing to assist as needs arise, prompt, reliable, enjoy interacting with families, have good hearing and be able to climb stairs. Shifts are: 9:00 am - 12:30 pm . . . 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm . . . 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm Monday through Friday.

McHelper Family Room: Work one shift per week at the Ronald McDonald House Family Room located at Wesley Medical Center. Assist families, answer phone, register families, track use, check supplies and uphold Family Room policies. Must be 18 or older, prompt, reliable, enjoy interacting with families and staff, and have good hearing. Shifts are: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, 12:15 pm - 4:30 pm, 4:15 pm - 8:30 pm. Daily, seven days a week.

Speakers Bureau: Tell the Ronald McDonald House story to schools, churches, civic and business organizations. Speakers needed locally and throughout the state of Kansas. Speakers will be trained before being given assignments. Presentations vary in time.

Committees: Be a part of the growth and development of Ronald McDonald House. Committee members assist in the facilitation of Ronald McDonald House policies
