Pen Publishing has generously contributed the website software and has been RMHC’s monthly email host. They provide training and guidance, so that we are able to maintain our own website. Having email and our website is invaluable. It is the vehicle to communicate with families, vendors, volunteers, donors an staff. Families have many times told us that they found us because of our website. The doctors or other hospital staff told the family about us and they could look us up on our webpage and get the information they needed to make a reservation. The Wichita Eagle, in collaboration with the generous McDonald’s owner/operators and their customers, is a significant supporter for Ronald McDonald House. Since 2005, a portion of the sales of the Wichita Eagle newspaper in the McDonald’s stores has represented 2,320 nights in our Houses! The Wichita Eagle has also supported the golf tournament for a number of years both in sponsorship and players. Tim Neslage joined the Board of Directors in 1999. In his six years on the Board, he made extensive contributions on the following committees: Speakers Bureau, Development, Golf, Strategic Planning, and Executive. He was the President of the Board for two consecutive years taking the organization through positive changes that brought us to where we are today – a healthy nonprofit that has served over 20,000 families. He has a love of golf and has been instrumental in securing sponsorships for the golf tournament! His personal commitment has been second to none.
Hays High DECA – Community Service Project entitled Ronald McDonald House Charities “Kids Helping Kids” by Laura Stroup and Jenny Walter under the leadership of marketing teacher at Hays High School and leader of DECA - Shaina Prough. We also want to express our gratitude for the generosity of Rick and Gail Kuehl, Owner/Operators of McDonald’s restaurants in Hays, WaKeeney and Russell. The main focus for this Community Service Project was to raise money for Ronald McDonald Houses but they were also hoping to reach their community in the process. They collaborated with Fort Hays State University. Through this project of collecting money and serving others, they were able to raise the awareness of DECA members, Hays High School students and staff, Fort Hays State University faculty and staff, and community members. One of the major ways they raised money for the Houses was hosting a Monopoly Tournament. This benefited the Ronald McDonald House Adopt-a-Family program.
